You may be a brand new first time mum learning as you go, or possibly an experienced mum with older children and several family demands on your time and energy. Postnatal lactation consultations and breastfeeding support are available for all mothers and families at any stage of their breastfeeding journey.
I offer a specialised service with an aim to “meet you wherever you are at.” Newborns experiencing breastfeeding difficulties are given booking priority. If it is urgent and I am unable to book you in within a day or two I will offer some form of practical support in the meantime until a booking can be made.
Home visits come standard with all postnatal consultations. Families with young babies usually greatly enjoy the convenience of consultations held in the comfort of their own homes. A travel fee will apply for consultations outside Dubbo. Alternatively you may wish to come to me in Dubbo. Zoom or phone consultations are another option.
DID YOU KNOW THE MOST COMMON REASONS FOR BOOKING CONSULTATIONS ARE:—
Getting practical help with attachment
Managing sore nipples
Discussions regarding adequate milk supply
Some other reasons include:—
Uncertainty & anxiety about baby's health & wellbeing
Pain
How to manage the "too sleepy" baby / the "always awake" baby
Dealing with conflicting information already received
No matter your circumstances, caring for a new baby can be a physically exhausting and emotionally overwhelming time. If you are also receiving lots of conflicting advice from several sources, this can increase feelings of uncertainty or anxiety.
Reassure yourself early on after your baby is born that all is on track with breastfeeding. Receive practical support that is accurate and evidence based. By using the services of a privately practicing IBCLC you will additionally receive care that is more customised and flexible in the manner in which it is delivered as well as benefiting from greater follow-through of care.
